The third painting in my watermelon series about the transatlantic slave saga and the stories that have emerged from it. This one in particular symbolizes how teeth have been one of the features of black lineage from Africa based on tooth mutilation of different tribes that can be traced to remains in North America and the Caribbean.
It is also a fact that slave teeth have been utilized in the making of dentures used by the white plantocracy and even by George Washington himself.
This painting symbolizes the use of the black body over the centuries, the bodily stature of our identity is often mis-represented, violated or reappropriated for the supressors gain.
